After good rainfalls nature is pushing- en route of the Stengeldamm trail you can find them on the way back from the dam to the farmhouse at the sandy parts, but only for a short time – enjoy!

Rainy season
When busy marking the Stutendamm trail we stopped at a basin just above the Stutendamm. Under a bush next to the basin we discovered two Leopard Tortoises (Stigmochelys pardalis) hiding.
Rare sighting
During one of my first trips on the Stengeldamm Trail I had the pleasure to see a tortoise which is very rare in this area. It is a Kalahari Tent Tortoise (Psammobates oculifer)
